The annual Gucci Campaign to Benefit UNICEF plan has always been greatly supporting the humane work carried out in Africa in order to provide the HIV-affected children and orphan with education, medical health care, subsistence security and clean food and water. In the five years actively carrying out the fund-raising plan, Gucci handbags successfully donated UNICEF more than 7 million dollars. This proud figure is the obvious proof that the brand continuously support this charity work, and for which Gucci has become biggest donating enterprise in the ‘Schools for Africa’ Africa plan of UNICEF at present. ‘Schools for Africa’ intends to create opportunity to receive high-quality education for children including girls, orphans, the poor, the sick and the weak. In the past, the charity funds of Gucci Duffels mainly used in Malawi and Mozambique, and this year it will support the third country–South Africa. There have been more than 2300 thousand children affected by HIV and become orphans all together in these three countries.
The funds donating chairman of UNICEF Nichole Brown said: ‘Most African children–especially the orphans and HIV-affected children–being educated will help them to improve their life in poverty. Via providing opportunities for children to receive education in a safe environment, not only can we assist the children to build up better life, but also to bring benefit to our posterity.’
